Small and Friendly Hotels on the Amalfi Coast

Hotel Le Terrazze
AMALFI - Conca dei Marini

This is a delightful three star superior hotel, which we inspected in early April 2008 just before opening for the season. New terraces were being finished, workman busied around with paint and varnish being vigorously applied. It was all too clear that this was a hand on operation by the family owners who take pride in their establishment. Just as important is that the hotel, which lies well below the coastal road and therefore does not suffer from any noise factor. This is an important point to consider when choosing a hotel in this region.

The hotel has a panoramic position overlooking the bay with superb views of the sea and the mansion that once belonged to Sophia Loren lies just below.

There are three types of rooms:

1. Side View Rooms - those with side view which still manage a sea view and fine views although with small balconies.
2. Front Sea Views - these have balconies which become larger as each stories descends towards the sea.
3. Junior Suites (as shown) - these can sleep up to 5 persons ideal for families and have the largest terraces.

All have Sat-TV, mini bar with reasonable prices and room safe. Well decorated, small but perfect bathrooms and all rooms are air-conditioned.

The hotel operates on a half board basis and the restaurant is delightful which opens onto a large terrace with sea views for el fresco dining. Room rates are based on half board, which includes a buffet breakfast and a four-course diner each evening.

On the coast road above, buses operate every 20 minutes into Amalfi - so a car is not essential but the hotel has a car park.

There is a stepped pathway down to the beach, which passes the Motel & Chandon villa and takes about 10 minutes to the Conca dei Marina Beach where there is a restaurant and a bar.

Hotel Aurora
AMALFI

Situated in one of the most enchanting corners of Amalfi, directly on the sea and only a few minutes' walk from the little touristic harbour and the Piazza Duomo, this charming family run hotel has its private beach, lift, bar, shady garden, parking and garage.

All rooms doubles or twins with balcony or terrace, most with sea view, bathroom with shower wc etc.., direct dial telephone, mini bar, central heating, colour TV.

Hotel Corrallo
AMALFI COASTLINE - Sorrento

This first class hotel has that grand hotel traditional feel, without that feeling of being dated or stuffy. The public rooms are all bright and airy and not a palm in sight! The bed-rooms are spacious with good sized tiled balconies.

The location, which is in Sant Agnello and is just 2km from the bustling centre of Sorrento, is quite fantastic. On our visit we were impressed by two main factors besides the hotel quality.

The first is the properties situation - which is in a quiet cul de sac and the other, is its sea front position with superb panoramic views of Naples bay and Sorrento.

Other pointers are that the hotel has a private beach position on the dark volcanic sand. There are only 58 bedrooms - so enough space for every one and the huge terrace on the lower floor is often used for el fresco dining each evening - for those who prefer cooler temperatures then the air conditioned restaurant on the same level beckons. Breakfast buffet style each morning.

There is also a large guest lounge and yet again with sea views. The bedrooms we offer are all superior sea view rooms - each has a large balcony table and chairs, fully air conditioned Sat-TV mini bar and safe.

For those on B&B seeking a choice of restaurants then there is a perfect little restaurant just across the road – just 20 yards walk!
