A choice of three picturesque and historic towns in the heart of Bohemia - Carlsbad and Cesky Krumlov and Ceske Budejovice; all three are easily accessible by train from Prague's main railway station. The cost (return) is around £8 ( £13 if first class is chosen) to either town and we arrange the tickets.

The hotels we have chosen are not the cheapest but they do offer lots of character and are ideal for a one or two night stay.

HOTEL CENTRAL CARLSBAD

Newly modernised hotel that is situated in a quiet square off the main street in the town centre.

Edwardian style decor - the rooms are well decorated on the small side but complete with en suite shower and WC.

Downstairs a pleasant dining room, large reception area and English speaking staff.

HOTEL BOHEMIA GOLD

A little over the top in decoration, almost "Kitsch" in style, but very comfortable and with lots of luxury. Excellent restaurant with fine wine list. Only six large double rooms and five suites, all with their own bathroom complete with gold taps!

Superb peaceful location beside the river Vlatava with a private summer terrace. Secure parking. Only 100 metres walk to the start of the town centre.

HOTEL ZVON +

This delightful hotel dates back to the 1560's and is facing one of the largest medieval squares in Europe, with water fountains in the centre and cobbled streets which run beneath arcaded elegant shops and houses.

The rooms which are at th rear of the property are very quiet at night. Each one has bathroom ensuite, a mini-bar, telephone and TV.

Downstairs is an elegant lounge, a dining room, cafe, gourmet restaurant and several bars.
