Here is an almost perfect seaside resort on the northwest Galician coastline that has a pretty harbour and its own small fishing fleet. A 2km long beach runs in a wide bay and this sleepy resort has also a high street with a good choice of restaurants and several bars offering very reasonable prices.

This coastline has a rather macabre name - Costa del Morte or coast of death. However don’t worry! This title refers to the shipwrecks and loss of life over many centuries due to the rocks and winter storms for which the area has a reputation rather like Cornwall.

Our hotel is located in an ideal spot being almost on the beach (30 yards walk) and in the centre and a choice of restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk.

The hotel is newly built just a year ago and offers specious rooms which include several family suites – with just 30 rooms the property will appeal to many people because it is small and family run. Daughter Silvia is the receptionist and speaks fluent English and can give advise on the area and recommended restaurants.

Breakfast is included and although the hotel has a specious bar and lounge area along with a breakfast room it has no restaurant. However the nearest one is just across the street and offers good seafood cuisine from £10 upwards.

Rooms are really good size having double-glazing and offer Satellite TV, air conditioning, mini bar and the en-suite bathrooms are supplied with hairdryer. There is a private garage basement area.

The family rooms are suites, which offer only one bathroom with bath shower WC, & washbasin. They offer a lounge with a double sofa bed, easy chairs and a separate bedroom, which has twin beds. Really good size and very comfortable.

Hotel Augusta Spa Superior
Sanxenxo
This very charming four star hotel stands in a quiet area overlooking the town and sea of Sanxenxo which offers a sweeping bay with sandy beach and a promenade of restaurants bar and shops. Yet the hotel is in a peaceful setting having panoramic and about 300 yards from the centre of the resort.

Two separate properties – the HOTEL which offers rooms and junior suites and the 4-star RESIDENCE, which offers luxury apartments with (rather simply) kitchenettes.

Hotel:

This is a superb hotel run very efficiently with a host of services. For the ladies there is, not one, but two beauty centres - which offer sauna and many treatments that include water treatments with hydro-massage using mineral and seawater techniques.

These include Japanese Shiatsu and hot and cold mineral stone treatments not to miss of course the hot mineral and seawater Jacuzzi’s and skin treatments.

The facilities include three swimming pools, two-beauty spa’s (one in the Apartment Residence), two well designed and with art deco styling restaurants, in addition a snack bar, and also a bar lounge area opening onto the fountains and garden area.

This has some spacious bedrooms with wooded polished floors - and superb bathrooms. Each has Satellite -TV with English language programmes and all have large balconies with distant sea views.

Residence:

A very super smart residence with an impressive foyer and reception that has large grounds and gardens that include a super sized heated swimming pool with water jets and two Jacuzzi’s.

This becomes an indoor pool, which becomes covered with an impressive canopy, which opens and closes depending on the weather conditions. It also has a beauty centre with lots of private skin & massage treatment rooms. A snack bar and a playground area. Mini golf course too.

Apartment T1 2/4 persons: Very modern style furnishings with double sofa bed and easy chairs with some 68 square yards of space that also includes a double bedroom, closed offer rather small kitchenette designed to produce simple meals having two ceramic hobs, micro wave and fridge freezer. Apartments T2 4/6 persons: Identical style but with a spacious 120 square yards of floor space and offers two bedrooms - one double and one with twin beds. Two bathrooms (one en suite).

Apartments CORAL II (Sleeps up to 5)
Portonovo, Sanxenxo

Superb position surrounded by pines and overlooking the sea. A quiet location, some 300 metres off the main road, some 400 metres from Lache beach and 2km from the shops and markets of Porto Novo.

Constructed in granite and of good quality throughout (something you notice in contrast to the rest of Spain - here they are built to last) all units have balconies with views of the sea and the medium size pool. All apartments have garage space, and each has a washing machine and a colour TV.

Type A for 2/3: Not over spacious living room (but remember you have a good sized balcony) with a double sofa bed for 2 persons. Kitchenette has 2 hot plates, fridge freezer, etc. One good sized bedroom and a well fitted bathroom with shower.

Type B for 4/5: Similar to Type A, but a larger living room and an extra twin bedroom.

All apartments are supplied with bed linen, towels and tea towels.

Apartments Playa Major
Porto Novo, Sanxenxo

Located back from the main road yet only 400 yards walk from the beach of Playa Major which is some 5km from Porto Novo and 6km from Sanxenxo.

Complete with a swimming pool and lawns the apartments stand in pleasant gardens with a children’s play area and a grassed playing field area.

Type A sleep 2/4 persons: and contain a lounge area with curtain off area (at night) which offers a large double sofa bed, a dining area with table chairs and a kitchenette with four hot plates and microwave oven. One separate bedroom with a double bed. Bathroom with bath and shower, WC and washbasin. Private terrace.

Type B sleep 4/5 persons: These larger units have a living room area with a single sofa bed, kitchenette with four hot plates oven and washing machine (also a micro wave). Two bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. One bathroom with bath shower WC and washbasin.

Both apartment types have a TV. There are a total of 14 apartments. Nearest restaurant is 1 km and shops 5km.

Apartments Dena
Dena, Sanxenxo
Set in open countryside yet only a five minutes walk from the town of Dena, which offers several restaurants and bars.

There are also shops and a small supermarket The area is a peaceful one and the nearest beaches are at Lanzada, which is about 6km drive away.

This is an ideal area to tour the region and there are a number of attractive places to visit with lots of beaches such as O Grove, Cambados and Porto Novo.

The apartments facilities are very good with a large swimming pool, children’s play area also one tennis court and private parking. This complex has some hotel facilities such as a bar, games area and a breakfast / snack bar.

Apartments to sleep 2/4: Good sized apartments - very modern and comfortable furnishings – but fairly
simple interiors, the furnishings include a double sofa bed and also Satellite TV.

Each one has a kitchen, which offers a Microwave – but only two hot plates, fridge freezer. One separate bedroom with either a double bed or twin beds, bathroom with bath and a showerhead over, WC and washbasin.

Apartments to sleep 4/5: These are much the same layout as Type A but have an extra bedroom with twin beds.

Rentals are usually only Saturday-to-Saturday

Hotel Oca Bosque-Mar
O Grove

A very pleasant hotel in a quiet location about four kms from the resort of O Grove which is a peninsular of land sticking out into the blue Atlantic connected to the mainland by a causeway. The area offers almost continuous beaches of fine sand - very under developed and a lovely area.The interesting city of Pontevedra is just 23 miles away.

The hotel is tucked away in a quiet location amidst exotic gardens on palm and pine trees overlooking the sea that is glimpsed through the trees with a downhill walk of about 400 yards to the sea and beach area. Just 150 yards walk away is another restaurant and a hotel with restaurant - so there is a good choice available without going to O Grove itself.

The lush grounds and lawns surround a large heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi area and there is a large area for sun bathing and sun beds supplied.

There are two separate sections to the hotel - the one that appears in our photograph which contains the restaurant, reception and lounge, bedrooms and on the top two floors there are self-contained apartments.

Casa Ameiros
O Grove
Apartments Casa Ameiros are located inside the heart of the Rías Baixas, in a small village at 800 metres from the beaches of San Vicente and at 4km from the fishing town of O Grove

These are high quality comfortable apartments, which are owned and managed by the owners of the Mar Atlantico Hotel, which is also featured by us.

Clients staying in the apartments can make use of the hotel facilities, which includes an indoor swimming pool, sauna, spa pool and massage, plus a snack bar and “a la carte” restaurant.

However these apartments also have their own facility, which includes a large swimming pool, sea views from some of the apartments, parking, and children’s play area.

Located about 800 yards from the nearest beaches these apartments are in a very location in a lane near to a village with no passing traffic.

These are some of the best apartments that we offer. The rentals are expensive but they contain very comfortable easy chairs and sofas; kitchens with four hot plates, oven and microwave. Two or three bedrooms. Two bathrooms.

Type A sleeps 4/5 persons: Contains a good-sized lounge with Satellite TV, sofa bed for one person, two bedrooms one with double bed and one with twin beds. Two bathrooms-one with bath shower WC and washbasin the other with shower WC and washbasin. Well-equipped kitchenette with four ceramic hot plates, oven microwave fridge etc. Large balcony or for ground floor units a large terrace.

Type B sleeps 6 persons: These have a larger lounge again with Sat-TV, three piece suite, Kitchen with four hot plates, micro wave fridge freezer etc. Three bedrooms – a twin, one double and one bedroom with bunk beds. Two bathrooms each with shower WC and washbasin.

From 01 July - 15 September they are only rented Saturday to Saturday. Outside these dates minimum rental can be three nights.
