Old Jewish Quarter, Krakow
Only a 15 minutes walk from the Old Town square brings you to the Jewish Quarter, known locally as Kazimierz, which in the last few years has become highly fashionable with artists,writers and the upper crust of local society. The area offers a large number of ethnic restaurants from Polish through to Japanese as well as some upmarket wine bars and beer cellars.
Much of the original architecture exists and has been greatly "gentrified" recently. In many ways it offers more style and better value than Krakows's historic centre - however as both are available within walking distance that becomes no problem.
