On these pages we offer details of our self drive motor home tours, which will enable you unconstrained travel throughout both North Island and South Island.

Below, you will see the vehicles we offer and if you click on the vehicle images you will be able to see more detail including virtual tours (requires Apple Quicktime software to view) of the insides of the homes. You will be able to download detailed specifications if you so wish.

Motor Homes: If you choose this option, try to rent the largest you can afford. After all, you will be staying in one for up to a month and the more room the better. With all our motor homes, we include a nights hotel on arrival near to the collection point. Our advice is that after travelling up to 24 hours, the idea of jumping into a large unfamiliar vehicle without a nights rest is hardly a good idea. It allows you to unwind, before hitting the road. We can also reserve more than one night of course if you wish to experience Auckland or Christchurch before touring.

Motor Homes on the road in New Zealand

At present we are offering two alternative Motor Home Companies: UNITED CAMPERVANS and ALPHA for your consideration

United Camper vans: This is a company that has been operating camper rental for many years.The company promises that all its hired campers will always be less than three years old. The company wisely offers an all inclusive rate which means there are no or very few “add on’s“ to the weekly rentals. In addition, there are a number of other extras included into this inclusive rate (see price chart below)

However, to be competitive, we also show the standard rates which do offer a risk with regard to Insurance in the case of any damage – there are insurance offers that can bring the excess in case of damage down to zero - but costs add up to 32 NZ dollars (£12 per day)

All our first week rentals INCLUDE an overnight hotel (*) stop at Auckland or Christchurch for either the first night’s arrival or final night before departure.

(*) United Standard Rentals - Insurance Excess

In the case of any damage to the camper the renter can be liable up to 5000 NZD or £2000 and under the company terms and conditions, a credit card will be taken to the amount of 5000 NZD. Any damage incurred can be taken from this deposit.

There are options to remove or reduce the excess, which are:

By paying 20 NZD (By paying 20 NZD (£8.00) daily will reduce the liability to a maximum excess of 1200 NZD (£480); OR
By paying a daily charge of 32 NZD (£11.40) will remove all excess liability and there would be no charges for vehicle damage.

We strongly suggest taking the EXCESS All Inclusive rates.

Alpha Campervans

Alpha

Alpha Campervan Rentals: The Alpha range of campers offer around 20% discount to those offered by its sister company United Campers. Operating from the same pickup/return sites the price difference is due to Alpha vehicles being 3- 5 years old. They have been refurbished from the United Fleet. The only difference really is the models are older and may lack the latest mechanical data of the United vehicles which are from one to three years old.
