On these pages we offer details of our self drive motor home tours, which will enable you unconstrained travel throughout both North Island and South Island.

Motor Homes: If you choose this option, try to rent the largest you can afford. After all, you will be staying in one for up to a month and the more room the better. With all our motor homes, we include a nights hotel on arrival near to the collection point. Our advice is that after travelling up to 24 hours, the idea of jumping into a large unfamiliar vehicle without a nights rest is hardly a good idea. It allows you to unwind, before hitting the road. We can also reserve more than one night of course if you wish to experience Auckland or Christchurch before touring.

Motor Homes on the road in New Zealand

We offer Maui/Britz campers as well as other companies. In our opinion Maui offer two advantages:

-	their reception and guest care are second to none – in Auckland they are next to the airport.
-	their motor homes are often new (less than 2 years old).

They can be collected in Auckland and dropped off in Christchurch or even Queenstown (subject to charges of £55 in high season from 01 October to 31 March).

Maui Rentals

Maui Campers: The largest operators of Motor Homes in New Zealand which are designed and maintained in house at their three depots near the airports of Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown.

• All vehicles are less than two years old;
• Returnable deposit on rentals of 250 NZ (#) when vehicle returned in good condition;
• Prices include free starter kit from washing up liquid to tissues and soap;
• Free phone card;
• Free bike rental at holiday sites;
• Discounts for rentals more than 21 days ;
• Bed linen and towels included;
• Only extra is government diesel tax which amounts to £9.60 per 1000 kilometres payable on return of vehicle;
• Free airport transfers – Auckland/Christchurch;
• Free luggage storage at depots;
• Manual or automatic gear transmission;
• Drop offs allowed – subject to charges of £57 in high season 01/10 - 31/03;

Prices shown below are for one week and include a first night stay in a three or four star hotel with swimming pool in order to relax after a long flight(s) from the UK.This weekly rental is for seven nights camper hire and one night hotel (8 nights total). If you do not want the Hotel then deduct £70 from the weekly rental shown. Extra days are shown for camper hire.

Extra Costs:

Diesel recovery costs: A ruling by New Zealand Government which is a fee for using diesel fuel and is based on the number of kilometres travelled.The following rates apply per 100km travelled:

Please note that these charges are per 100km NOT per km!!

Insurance: The vehicle is covered for damage - but the excess for the first part of the claim is 5000 NZD(£2000) this liability being for the renter of the vehicle.

If you wish to reduce the liability to ZERO and to include any damage to windscreens/tyres you may on picking up the vehicle opt to pay 38 NZD (£15.20) PER DAY which then excludes any liability.

(#) Security deposit: If excess reduction is NOT taken then a security deposit (credit cards accepted) of 5000 NZD(£2000) will be taken at the time of collection of the vehicle. If the Excess reduction is taken only, 250 NZD(£100) will be requested.

United Campervans: This is a company that has been operating camper rental for many years.The company promises that all it’s hired campers to always be less than three years old. The company wisely offers an all inclusive rate which means there are no or very few “add on’s “to the weekly rentals.In addition there are a number of other extras included into this inclusive rate(see below price chart)

However to be competitive we also show the standard rates which do offer a risk with regard to Insurance risk in the case of any damage –there are insurance offers that can bring the excess in case of damage down to zero-but costs add up to 32 NZ dollars(£12 per day)

All our first week rentals INCLUDE an overnight hotel stop at Auckland or Christchurch for either the first night’s arrival or final night before departure
