Located between the resort of Lagos and the pretty village of Salema, this luxury resort offers some superb villas with their own pools and town houses with various swimming pools amidst the lush greenery of an 18-hole golf course and the nearby fine sand beaches of Burdens and Salema.
If you prefer secluded beaches, driving less than 20 minutes, takes you to the long beaches of Aquia which run for miles along this protected coastline region that runs from Sagres north to Sines.
Of interest to families, the resort offers very good facilities for children with organised programmes and also a Club for children from the ages of 3 - 10 year olds and costs from £9 per child (half day) or for 8-16 year olds an Actic 8 Club with similar costs. Thus allowing the adults to relax for a few hours or even a whole day whilst the children expend their energy!
All bookings that are made with Auto Plan are made directly with the 'Vigia Group' which are both a Construction Company and Rental Company. There are a number of owners working directly on the Internet.

Golf Village Houses:
These are located in the centre of the resort and many overlook the large swimming pool or the Spa area. All the properties are graded into two categories: Superior and Deluxe.
There are price differences, which really apply to the property condition, the furnishing standards and also location. We have described the Superior properties which are in any case are high quality - the extra price paid for Deluxe will be a higher grade of property and in the case of individual villas may be larger grounds or swimming pool size.
The Superior and Deluxe houses have air conditioning all have Satellite-TV with SKY programmes. However, depending on the owner, you may find viewing can be restrictive dependant on the subscription that has been chosen by the owners. On local TV programmes, those films from UK and USA are all in English and dubbed in Portuguese –so do check the local TV guides.

We have visited and checked out some of the houses - all fit the descriptive that we give.
However, there will be small differences in the layouts of each house as, in some cases, they are custom built for owners.
The furnishings are all depend on the owners choice and vary - but the comfort is very high and we have no hesitation in recommending any of them.
With all rentals, free buffet breakfast is available at the Golf Clubhouse restaurant between 07:30 - 11:00 hours daily.

Superior 2 bedroom village house:
Sleeps 4 – 5 persons
The village houses are located near to the Club House Restaurant and Spike Bar which provides an easy walk to take the full English breakfast which is INCLUDED in our weekly rentals.
Ref F23: These offer a spacious living room with sofa and easy chairs and always with Satellite-TV. Fully fitted kitchens - each has a four-ring ceramic stove, an oven, toaster, kettle and /or coffee machine. There is always an automatic washing machine and some properties are equipped with dishwasher or microwave.
Two bedrooms - a master bedroom with en suite bathroom. There is a second bedroom with twin beds and a second bathroom. Each house has either a balcony or a terrace. An extra bed is possible for a child under 12 years at a daily cost of £15. Cots are available free of charge.

3 bedroom village houses:
Sleeps 6 – 7 persons
Ref E31: These are very spacious town houses on three floors - the main entrance is from the garden side into the centre floor, which offers a cloakroom with washbasin and WC. One double bedroom. Stairs to lower floor which offers two further bedrooms – one double room and one twin room. One full bathroom with shower WC . The top floor contains the main lounge with three-piece suite and Satellite-TV. Each house has access to a private balcony and has a spacious kitchen fully equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc.
Lower prices: There are some villas with private pool at Parque da Floresta which are available at lower rates. These houses are deemed “Standard” and are variable in age, quality and facilities; Some have air conditioning, others do not and the furnishings and equipment vary - most have washing machines but not dishwashers and so on.
Prices are shown for the standard houses for those looking for the lowest price and being described as three bedroomed or four bedroomed “Standard” properties.
Golf Villas:
These properties are set well back from the centre area - each in its own grounds with a private pool. If you wish to take the inclusive breakfast each morning that is included in our weekly rates, there will be a short three minutes drive by car to get to the main Clubhouse restaurant.
4 bedroom Superior Villa
Sleeps 6 persons - V75
Each villa is within its own grounds with gardens and a private pool - the size varies but not less than 30 x16 ft. The pools can in some cases be heated for which there is a charge of 320 euros per week (not required in Spring/summer).
These properties have a large living room with Satellite-TV and video or CD players. There is a large kitchen having all the appliances one could wish for. A separate dining room opens into a large lounge with open fireplace; lovely furnishings - sofas easy chairs etc. Double French widows lead onto the terrace with golf course fairway views below.
Stairs down to the swimming pool (all pools are NOT fenced and the pools have an open side in some cases with a waterfall over rocks to be re-filtered and pumped back to the pool) Parents therefore should take care with young children who should be supervised at all times).
There are 4 bedrooms – each with en suite bathrooms. There are three twin bedded rooms and one double. Not all villas may have every bathroom en suite and and if this is essential we must confirm this on each booking request. Downstairs cloakroom with washbasin and WC.
An extra child’s bed(under 12 years) is available at an average cost of £15 per day.

3 bedroom Deluxe Villa
Sleeps 6 persons - V92
Detached villas in own grounds with private pool about 30x16 ft. Large “L” shaped living room with TV, Sofas and easy chairs.
Each villa is a little different in style and layout. Outside is a terrace leading to the swimming pool-these can often be heated for a fee of 320 euros per week.
Downstairs are three double bedrooms - all with en suite bathrooms. Two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom.
Two of the bedrooms have French windows onto the terrace and to the three-sided pool.

These air conditioned homes all have fully equipped kitchens, often with dishwasher, washing machine and microwave and hot plates and oven etc.
Separate dining room. The living rooms are straight out of “Homes and Gardens” with luxury sofas and armchairs - sliding patio windows open up onto large terrace, which overlooks the swimming pool. Cloakroom with washbasin and WC.
Outside lawned gardens a parking areas for several cars.
Quinta da Encosta Velha
Near Budens (Western Algarve)

This is a separate development that is located next door to the sleepy village of Budens and is an easy walk to a local restaurant and also to the Intermarche supermarket - although for bulky items it may be easier to drive.

Free buffet breakfast is included into every weekly rental taken at “The Tavern” restaurant within walking distance.
Based on the style of a Tunisian village in various pastel colours this new complex of tiny winding streets features several large swimming pools.
There are also some two and three bed-roomed town houses, some of which have their own small plunge pool. There are also communal pools for those properties without their own private pools.
In our view parents of small children should not book these houses as the pools are unfenced and with a depth of six feet in part could be dangerous.
All these houses are fully air-conditioned and are equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave toasters, kettles, ceramic hobs and oven. Each one has Satellite-TV; most have a video or CD player. The comfort factor is very high which we would call luxurious.

3 bedroomed village houses with own pool:
Sleeps 6 persons
These are split-level with entrance into the top floor, which contains a very modern kitchen. There is a large lounge with three-piece suite, dining area to seat six persons.
Good sized terrace with view of the pool. On this floor is one twin bedroom and a bathroom with shower
Stairs lead down to ground level with access to the pool and patio area.
Further two bedrooms - one twin and one double bedroom. Second family bathroom with bath/shower WC.

2 / 3 bedroomed Terraced houses / apartments.
Off the paved streets the patios enter on the first floor which contains a lounge with three piece suite, dining area and Satellite-TV There is a separate kitchen fully equipped to the highest level. Small terrace.
One double bedroom with en suite bathroom having shower bath and WC. One twin bedroom and a family bathroom with bath shower over & WC.
Upstairs contains one twin bedroom with en suite bathroom and a large terrace overlooks the communal swimming pool.

Near Budens (Western Algarve)

This is a smaller development on the Budens side of the Floresta Golf course. It is within walking distance of a small typical restaurant and a few shops. The village’s Intermarche supermarket is possibly too far to walk and best to drive. FREE buffet breakfast is included daily and taken at nearby in The Tavern Restaurant within a short walking distance.
These two and three bed-roomed town houses are in small streets laid out with small lawned gardens, which are enclosed by box hedging. These clusters of two story town houses have panoramic views over the green of the gold course and down to the azure sea.

The development has its own pool which also includes a children’s pool changing rooms and gardens with sun loungers.
In addition, it takes just minutes to drive to the spa, adult swimming pools.
Also a children’s pool and playground area and the restaurant where from 07:30 to 11:00 hours each morning you can enjoy breakfast (continental or full English) and the price is included into our weekly rentals.

2 bedroomed village houses:
Sleeps 4-5
Superior style village houses which are on the hillside with a front entrance onto the top floor containing a large lounge with French windows opening onto a terrace. Dining area and separate fully equipped kitchen (ceramic hobs / oven / dishwasher and washing machine) Cloakroom with wash basin and WC.
Stairs lead down to lower floor, which offers two bedrooms - a double with en suite shower; a twin bedroom and a further bathroom with bath with shower over and WC. Good sized balcony, but a pocket-handkerchief garden.
3 bedroomed village houses: Sleeps 6

These are also split-level with larger lounge having superb sofas and easy chairs around an open fireplace (wood burner), then a separate absolutely fabulous kitchen!
Then there are the 3 bedrooms - one double en suite, two twin bedrooms, family bathroom with bath shower etc. Third WC and washbasin in the upstairs cloakroom.
Small garden area front and back plus large balcony with garden furniture.
3 bedroomed Villas with pool:
Sleeps 6
These are detached villas each with their own swimming pool. However the pools are not fenced or enclosed and we would recommend that parents consider this danger factor when booking.

Each one varies in style but they have an average pool size of 26 x 12ft spacious terraces and also many have balconies with views across the fairways down to the distant sea.
Split level the entrance is on the first floor which contains a large lounge, dining area off and a separate kitchen with every possible appliance. One clock room with washbasin and WC. Stairs to lower floor containing three bedrooms.
Master bedroom with double bed and en suite bathroom room having bath with shower over and WC. Two further bedrooms each with twin beds. A family bathroom also with bath, shower and WC.

Near Figueira (Western Algarve)
Located on the edge of the sleepy village of Figueira and about 2km drive from the pretty (really) fishing village of Salema the tiny colourful fishing boats are pulled over the fine sand beach onto the harbour slipways. A long lovely fine sand beach backed by orange coloured cliffs makes for perfect photos.

Here are also a number of restaurants and bars, which over look the sea. The two and three bed-roomed houses are grouped around a good-sized swimming pool along with children’s pool, which is enclosed by high walls as the perfect suntrap. There is a small restaurant in the village but main shops supermarket is in Budens just a kilometre drive away.

Rentals include buffet breakfast taken at Floresta Golf Clubhouse restaurant daily.
The quality of these properties in our view is average compared to others on this page BUT they offer a lot of space. Whilst they have decent sized front gardens, the very large patios at the rear of each house do suffer from a lack of privacy, having just a low two-foot wall between each house. However, the patios face south and have pleasant views of farmland.

Internally the houses as spacious and offer a large lounge area with a fireplace and each has comfortable lounge suite along with Satellite-TV. Some do have air conditioning but this is only available on request.
Welcome food pack (water and fresh fruit) is supplied. A larger food pack consisting of bread / ham / cheese / wine is available for 10 euros per person. However, we suggest taking the FREE breakfast next morning which is a little more relaxing.
Type A - sleeps 4: They have a semi open style kitchen with four ceramic hobs, oven, fridge freezer, sometimes a microwave and a washing machine is supplied. Good sized lounge with easy chairs grouped around a fireplace. Upstairs contains one double bed room and one twin bedroom. One full bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom contains a further WC and washbasin.
Type B - sleeps 6: These contain lounge with easy chairs fireplace and Sat TV is supplied but limited English programmes, kitchen with washing machine, ceramic hobs, oven. Nice good sized front gardens and rear patio.
Upstairs are three bedrooms: - one double and two twin bedrooms. There are two bathrooms with bath and shower over, washbasin and WC.

Near Lagos (Western Algarve)

This is a small luxury development of town houses and two apartment buildings built to a very high standard. The property is ideal for holidays in a quiet delightful position with sea views and walking distance to the fine sand beach of Meia Praia and yet only 3km from all the restaurants and nightlife that anyone would want.
There is underground parking and each of the three story apartment buildings has an exterior glass fronted lift to all floors.
Lagos is a delightful historic city with many of its original city walls still standing and inside the town are delightful cobbled streets which lead down to the old harbour still used by locals with their colourful small boats.
There is also a promenade that meanders down to the modern Marina and with many cafes and restaurants along the route.

São Roque is in a quiet spot with delightful views of Meia Praia beach, which is about 12 minutes walk away via a footpath although the trek back uphill might be wearisome for youngsters! The only drawback is the 1km narrow country lane, which takes some patience and driving care connecting the property to the Lagos town.
There are two swimming pools - one for adults and another for children (90 cms deep)
Because of its location, car hire in our view is essential, as there are no shops or eateries within walking distance - the alternative is a taxi. Not really practical if the area and region is to be explored.
Each apartment includes into the rental a daily food pack delivery (bread, milk, sugar. tea / coffee, bread, butter and jam, orange juice).
There is a choice of two bed roomed townhouses OR apartments with countryside or sea views.
Quinta São Roque - Townhouses:
Sleep 4 (extra bed possible)
These delightful terraced houses all have a sea view and within landscaped grounds. Parking can be in the front of each house to avoid the garden walk and each one has a tiny front garden with barbeque and shared exotic gardens at the rear.

Downstairs: contains large open plan living room and dinette area. They offer Sat-TV and air conditioning fully equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher. Guest cloakroom with WC and washbasin.
Upstairs: One double bedroom (can be twin beds) with en suite bathroom having boxed shower washbasin and Wc.One twin bedroom and a second full bathroom with bath and shower over.
Quinta São Roque - 2 bed-roomed apartments:
These are available with spacious balconies with or without sea views. Spacious living room and fully equipped kitchen. Two twin bedrooms - one with en suite bathroom and a second family bathroom.
Quinta São Roque - 3 bed-roomed apartments:
Sleep 6 (extra bed available)
These are both available with or without sea views. Very high quality furnishings as all these properties are with spacious balconies. Large living room, dining area. Spacious fully equipped kitchen.

Three bedrooms - one master double with en suite (some have twin beds) bathroom and there are two further twin bedrooms. Second family bathroom.
Quinta São Roque - 4 bed-roomed penthouse:

These huge penthouse style apartments have sea views with long and spacious balconies. Living room having a separate dining area. Spacious kitchen with every possible appliance.
Four bedrooms - one en suite and two further bathrooms.
Some of the three and 4 bed-roomed penthouses with sea view have a Private Spa bath on the balcony (quite private) if you wish to operate these there is a £110 charge per week for the privilege.

Quinta da Balaia
Albufeira (Western Algarve)
This development of villas and town houses is a quiet green oasis in the centre of busy Albufeira - you can enjoy all the facilities of this bustling resort and its beaches and yet retreat to peace and quiet only 2km from the bustling “strip” of restaurants, cafes and nightlife of the town. So if you have a family who want both and a resort that suits all ages then you have discovered the perfect holiday.
The development of older detached and semi detached villas are in 30 year old landscaped lush gardens with mature trees. There is a new section that has been added, which offers some delightful town houses with shared pools - ideal for couples.
In addition, there are a number of houses with own pools that we inspected. They are about 30 years old and well kept gardens - after all you intend to stay outside and enjoy the facilities, rather than hide away from the sunshine! These include:

We found the restaurant impressive with diners being able to view the kitchen through a large window. Leather chairs, subtle lighting and a wide variety of wines complete the picture. There are also special Portuguese dishes that can be ordered 24 hours in advance as well as lobster and other special fish dishes cooked to order. There is also an outdoor snack bar for simple more child friendly meals!
Type V2 (97-99): We stayed in a standard type two bedroomed villa one which we and found them comfortable - nothing special but each one had a washing machine and dishwasher. Most villas had air conditioning in the living room area - The living room is large with a separate dining area with large picture windows opening onto very private terraces. There are two bedrooms each with twin beds sharing one family bathroom having bath and shower washbasin and WC. Each one has a Satellite-TV with some English programs.

Type V2 shared pool (74): These are near to the restaurant and have a pool which is shared with eight other terraced town houses. Good sized lounge area with French windows opening onto a private patio garden area. Kitchen rather on the small side with oven four hot rings and dishwasher. Separate laundry room with washing machine.
Stairs to the upstairs area which contains two bedrooms each with twin beds one having en suite bathroom and a further second family bathroom. Simple but clean and comfortable furnishings.
Type V2 with pool Standard (32): This is a detached house with a private pool - not very large, around 22ft x12ft filtered but not heated .The hedged gardens offer plenty of privacy. Interior wise rather simple accommodation but with a large lounge having easy furniture,dining area. Kitchen having dishwasher and washing machine four hot rings oven fridge freezer etc.
Two steps to higher level which contains two bedrooms-one with double bed and own en suite bathroom. A second bedroom with twin beds plus a second bathroom (both with bath, shower over, washbasin and WC).
Outside a large patio area complete with barbeque.
Type V2 with pool Superior (830): Semi detached house with rear gardens which are laid to lawn and includes a oval shaped private swimming pool with steps - quite small (about 18ftx10ft) but great for younger children.
This house is full of bright colours and offers comfortable easy chairs and sofas around a large fireplace with French windows onto the garden(Air conditioning)
Modern kitchen with washing machine/dishwasher. Two bedrooms – one twin with en suite bathroom and a further twin bedroom which shares a family bathroom which both have a bath shower over and WC.

Type V3 with pool (Deluxe) 309: In the new part of the development this detached house has a private swimming pool in lawned gardens. Very pleasant lounge dining room and separate kitchen with every appliance. Three bedrooms - one double en suite bathroom and two others each with twin beds that share a second bathroom
Type V4 with pool (311): New development area yet in mature and private gardens this four bedroomed villa offers superb furnishings and quality with each of the four bedrooms having own en suite bathroom.
There is a large lounge with sofas and easy chairs and at a higher level(three steps) offers a dining room which easily seats eight persons. Oddly, the kitchen is on the small side although very well equipped with every appliance possible for the budding chef of the year!
Outside is a lovely garden with large fenced pool and a barbeque for lazy summer evenings.

Type V1 Deluxe shared pool (201-11): A new rather stylish group of townhouses which share one pool Each one is very well equipped and furnished and would be ideal for a couple although for young families a cot can be supplied.
The downstairs contains a good sized living room with three piece suite, a large fireplace (wood is charged for 5 euros daily) dinette area and TV. There is direct access to the community swimming pool and a private terrace.
A very high spec kitchen with everything anyone would need including kettle and toaster. Upstairs contains a large double bedroom with an en suite bathroom having bath shower washbasin. There is a small balcony off the bedroom.
Type T1 standard: These one bedroomed town houses are much the same standard as V! but you need to walk about 300 metres to the main pool which has a bar and restaurant.
Good sized lounge/dining area easy chairs,fire place. Nice kitchen with washing machine full cooker and oven. Stairs from hall lead to top floor with a twin bedroom (some units have a double bed). Bathroom with bath and shower over, washbasin and WC. A small private courtyard for el fresco meals.

These de luxe properties are really apartments rather than villas but even so this is in a superb development just four years old and in a unique position away from the bustling strip of Albufeira and its nightlife, yet near enough if you wish to enjoy these facilities which are just 4km away.
Built directly overlooking the sea with a path leading down to the shoreline beach.The facilities include huge swimming pool which slopes gently to the deeper end in the centre so there is no need to jump in or use steps.
There is a lovely open air bar overlooking the pool and easy access to the children’s pool below so that children can enjoy themselves while watched over by parents enjoying a meal or drink
Other facilities include:
The cubist style apartments are on one and two bedrooms. The larger units are like town houses built on two floors.

T1 (sleeps 2/4): Apartments on first and second floors.They offer entrance into the dining room off which is a fully equipped kitchen (see details below) Separate living room with easy chairs and a double sofa bed.The living room is air conditioned complete with Satellite-TV and has French windows leading to a large terrace with garden and sea views. Stairs down to a semi basement area which contains one twin bedroom with picture windows onto a second terrace having garden views. Bathroom with bath / shower over, washbasin and WC.
Some of these T1 units are on three floors and known as Triplix T1. These have sub ground floor entrance to a kitchen and dining room, stairs to separate living room having Satellite-TV with easy chairs and double sofa bed and equipped with air conditioning.

French windows open onto a good sized terrace with garden furniture. Stairs lead to second floor which has one bedroom with double bed or twin beds. One bathroom with shower bath WC and washbasin.
T2 Duplex (sleeps 4): Entrance hall into a dining room and fully fitted kitchen (see details below). Separate living room having Satellite-TV with easy chairs and a double sofa bed, air conditioned. French windows onto a good sized terrace having sea views and complete with garden furniture.
Internal stairs lead to first floor which offers 2 bedrooms:- one master bedroom with double or twin beds having en-suite bathroom with bath shower washbasin & WC Second bedroom with twin beds. Family bathroom with shower washbasin/WC.
