Aroeira Apartments & Villas, 25km from Lisbon

There is no need to play golf to stay at this exclusive resort just 25km from Lisbon yet in green countryside and next to the sea. Covering a total area of 800 acres amidst pinewoods and fairways this is a four-star quality resort by any standards. Located in the region known as the Costa Azul, the resort is just 8km from the shops and restaurants of nearby Caparica.

Restaurants: There is one at the Club house with low priced lunch menus and wholesome breakfasts. Just 2km away, are several seafood restaurants directly on the beach. Within 8km there is a selection of ten recommended eateries at all rates - but many which offer excellent three course meals for under £15 a head served with locally produced wines. Just 15 minutes drive away is a shoppers paradise - Almada Forum almost the largest retail development in Portugal offering over 260 shops and stores - although you need to remember where you parked in the vast underground parking lot!

A very different holiday even if you have no desire to play golf - it offers a quiet peaceful resort - excellent facilities which include a huge swimming pool area with clubhouse snack bar. Driving range and putting green, tennis courts (about 7 euros per hour court rental).

The resort comes complete with a tropical giant sized swimming pool, bars, restaurant, four tennis courts and two 18 hole golf courses, a driving range and golf school if you or your family fancy trying to take up the sport.

The course runs along the Atlantic coastline above the sand cliffs which are a protected area.

Access to the beach is via a 2km dog leg drive or there is a constant free shuttle service to and from this fine sand beach which is some 10km in length. The bay is shallow and sheltered from the Atlantic breakers, which is ideal for children.

Apartments:

Type T1 - sleeps 2/3: These are one bed roomed apartments - spacious with a good-sized living room, balcony or terrace and have a fully equipped kitchenette with four hot plates, oven, washing machine etc. One separate bedroom with double or twin beds and one very modern bathroom with bath, shower washbasin wc etc.. An extra bed is available.

Type 2 - sleeps 4/5: These are larger units, many are ground floor with own covered terrace and a good-sized lawned garden as well. These have large lounge always with sofa and easy chairs. Fully equipped kitchen with four hot plates, oven, washing machine etc. Two bedrooms one with double bed and the other with twin beds. An extra bed is available.

Type 3 - sleeps 6: Largest of the apartment range having lounge, kitchen, three bedrooms - two twins and one double. Two bathrooms. Superb quality units. An extra bed is available.

Houses:

Some lovely houses situated in woodland plots some overlooking the fairways - others hidden away in the pines.All year round rentals as the temperatures for this part of Costa da Luz are on average only 4 degrees lower than the Algarve. But you have classic resorts such as Cascais and Estoril plus the enchanting parts of old town Lisbon all less than 20 minutes drive away.

There are fine sandy beaches less than a mile away which stretch for miles along this protected coastline with steep sand cliffs. These beaches are well known for their fossil finds.

Villa Primula - sleeps 6

Lovely alpine style chalet which fits into the pine-woods landscape rather well. Large gardens, barbeque area and quiet position.

All one one floor this spacious deluxe property which offers central heating in winter(100 euros per week heating charge) Large lounge with fireplace (wood supplied at 5 euros per cord); satellite-TV of course; a separate dining room.; a super sized kitchen with every possible appliance from dishwasher to micro wave; an a laundry room with washing machine.

Three bedrooms plus a mezzanine floor ideal for children.One single bedroom which has a staircase to a mezzanine floor containing two single beds.

Casa da Papoilas - sleeps 8

Lovely detached house amidst woodland which is near to the pool area and have good sized lawn and well kept gardens in a totally enclosed plot.

Contains a large lounge with open fire place. Separate fully fitted kitchen having dishwasher,washing machine four hot plates,oven and micro wave.

Four bedrooms - four twin bedded rooms - two with en-suite bathrooms.One third family bathroom. Outside a barbeque and covered terrace.Lots of parking.

Casa Mimosas - sleeps 8

This is a property strictly for design lovers of the ultra modern. Only just completed this large detached house contains a spacious lounge complete with satellite-TV.

Out of this world separate kitchen with every possible appliance. Four bedrooms each with en suite bathroom. Outside a very private garden area with large but unheated swimming pool.

Most important: these apartments and villas are first class and include full cleaning twice weekly. Bed linen and towels changed every two days. All inclusive rates, EXCEPT for heating (if required), which for villas is 150 euros per week in winter.
