Plemmirio and Col Vento: On this page, we have concentrated on two locations on the east side of the island - Plemmirio and Col Vento, which are close to Siracusa in the south east of the island. Siracusa is a province as well as a city, that stretches from the slopes of Fina and Catania to Nota. Along its shoreline are large sandy beaches and rocky foreshores stretching for some 100km. In contrast. this originally Greek city, includes the historic Island of Ortygia, fascinates with its narrow street leading to the Fountain of Arethusa, the cathedral and the sea, together with a vast range of restaurants, open air bars and the odd disco.
