Country Holidays in Umbria, south of Perugia

We are offering two independant Country House accommodations which are located on the same Estate and share the facilities of the Estate. The two houses are about 4km apart and have their own separate entrances.

Accommodation: The accommodation at the Country House Torre Burchio is a 19th century building in which there are 17 bedrooms which are available on a Bed & Breakfast or Half Board basis. The accommodation at the Country House Casal Cerqueto is in an 18th century building with 2 other out buildings which have been converted to provide 18 apartments. These apartments can be rented on a Self Catering basis, on a Bed & Breakfast or Half Board basis.

Location: Torreburchio farm is situated in Bettona, in the province of Perugia. If you want to reach it, it's necessary to go along the E45 highway, to turn Torgiano - S. Martino in Campo exit, to go along towards Torgiano and Bettona in direction of Torreburchio. (see B on Google Map)

The farm is 600 hectares wide. It is situated on a hill covered with mediterranean scrub and many olive-trees. In the surrounding woodland that is a natural reserve there are a wide range of animals, including: moufflons, fallow-deer, wild-boars, pheasants, grey partridges, hares, deer and squirrels.

Activities: There are many outdoor activities available on the estate which include walking; swimming; trekking; mountain-bike riding; horse-riding; tennis; table tennis; bowls; and fishing.

Country House Torre Burchio:
Bettona, Perugia

The farm building dates back to 1880 and have been completely renewed, keeping many of the original characteristics. Upstairs, there are six bedrooms; a hall for breakfast with a panoramic view and a chimney; a hall with sofas;TV; etc. Downstairs, there is a dining room, a bar, the restaurant, bathrooms (one of these is also equipped for handicapped persons), kitchens, a grill and an open fire.

When the weather is fine, it is also normal to eat outdoors.

This farm produces some daily traditional products such as: bread, pasta, sweets and cookies.

A few metres away from the farm-house, there is another 10 room building with an independent entrance and a wonderful panoramic view on the valley. There are brick floors, ceilings with wooden rafters and white walls. Some furnishings are very old, other ones have an ancient style.

All rooms in the farm-house have private services, telephone, TV. There is plenty of parking space.

How to reach Torre Burchio:

From the North:

• A1 exit Valdichiana
• Connection Perugia – Bettolle
• S.S. E45 direction Terni
• Exit Torgiano-San. Martino in Campo direction Torgiano –
Bettona
• then follow the signs Torre Burchio

From the South:

• A1 exit Orte
• S.S. E45 direction Perugia
• Exit Pontenuovo
• Direction Torgiano – Bettona
• then follow the signs Torre Burchio

When you arrive in Bettona you don't have to enter the village, keep the right and follow the brown signs "Country House Torre Burchio", it is 7kms far from Bettona.

Country House Casal Cerqueto:

On the same Estate as Country House Torre Burchio, some 4km away is the 18th century country house called Casal Cerqueto.

Together with a couple of outbuildings, the property provides apartment accommodation.

There are 18 apartments (one, two or three rooms) in total which are situated in the carefully renovated house dating from the late 1700s and in the two extensions, subsequently built in keeping with the original building.

The apartments are furnished with charming rustic furniture and all have their own kitchenette, telephone and television.

Just a short walk away there is a restaurant with traditional cuisine, a swimming pool with a view of the surrounding hills, a tennis court, a football pitch and the tennis table.

As with the Torre Burchio property the estate is open for your use and there are the activities listed in the introduction above are available to you if you wish.

While these apartments are suitable for self catering, you may rent them on a bed & breakfast basis or even a half board basis, if you wish, as there is a restaurant available on site. As seen in the photograph to the left, the tables overlook the swimming pool and the local hills provide a delightful backdrop for your dining etc.

How to reach Casal Cerqueto:

From the North:

• from the A1 Firenze\Roma take the exit for Valdichiana
• take the turning for Perugia – Bettole
• take the E45 in the direction of Terni
• from the E45 take the exit for Ripabianca
• then follow the signs for Foligno, Canalicchio and Torre Burchio

When you are in Canalicchio, follow the dirt road down for 500 metres.

From the South:

• from the A1 Firenze\Roma take the exit for Orte
• take the E45 in the direction of Perugia
• take the exit for Ripabianca
• then follow the signs for Foligno, Canalicchio and Torre Burchio

When you are in Canalicchio, follow the dirt road down for 500 metres.
